In my opinion I don't think that some student do their work to their full potential fro many reason. One reason is that kids don't care about about how important school is. Most of the kids want to go to school because of their friends. For example, kids rather talk to their friends all day instead of learning something new. Kids also don't really care about their grades. For instance, if a kid gets a 67 or a 69 they aren't very upset or curious about how they got that grade. Most of the kids say "Great I passed". They don't think about the implications of not trying to better their academic skills because they don't feel the need to. They are satisfied with passing by 2 or 3 points. Some of the kids don't stress going to college and getting a diploma. This does seem silly to me but however I do feel a little sympathetic for them because some teachers don't really care about the kids the way they should. That is a reason why kids don't take school seriously. But that isn't a big enough reason why kids should stop trying in school.

Lamont....7th period
Compare (similarities) and contrast (differences) with your book's protagonist (main character) with either Ponyboy Curtis or Jennings Michael Burch - for 7th graders and Alfred, John, or Lorraine for 8th graders. Please write at least 7 sentences in paragraph form.
Lorraine and Greg share simmilar but very different characteristics. They are simmilar because they aren't very popular people in school or at home and they both only have one friend. However, they are different because Greg's parents support him but Lorraines parents don't. Additionally, Lorraine's parents like to keep her trapped in the house, but Gregs parents let him play sports and join clubs. Lorraine is the only child but Greg has an older brother and a younger brother.
